Why Phthalate-Free?

What exactly are phthalates (pronounced tha-layts) and why don't we want them?

Well, by definition: "Phthalates are a group of chemicals used to make plastics more durable. They are often called plasticizers. Some phthalates are used to help dissolve other materials. Phthalates are in hundreds of products, such as vinyl flooring, lubricating oils, and personal-care products." - CDC

They are endocrine disruptors...that means they can mess with your hormone levels! Your endocrine system is responsible for releasing hormones into the bloodstream, to get to multiple parts of the body. Things like your reproductive system, thyroid, metabolism, mood & more, are all affected by endocrine disruptors, making hormone levels imbalanced & not able to function properly.

As someone who already suffers from endocrine related issues (PCOS), it is important to me and is why I specifically choose to use phthalate-free fragrances, here at Southern Heat Candle Co. I want you to be able to burn candles, melt wax brittle and use body products that you can feel good about.
